Our Ethos

Physical Education at Kinver High School is so much more than taking part in sport and playing games.

The PE department pride themselves on providing all students with the opportunity to experience activities and experiences that provide life long memories.

We feel that is it vital to develop our students as people and promote positive values through a vast array of enrichment opportunities.

We feel that the experiences we offer allow our students to learn how to develop personal skills that range from improving self-discipline and developing empathy to cultivating self-esteem and confidence.

Get Involved!

Extra-curricular:

At Kinver High School all students, irrelevant of perceived ability and experience, have the opportunity to take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities. There are a variety of lunchtime clubs on offer that are teacher led clubs and practices that allow students to refine the skills that they have learnt in lesson.

Our new Extra-curricular Pathway:

We have also recently developed a performance pathway for extra-curricular and is a great opportunity to have expose to competitive sport outside of PE lessons whilst working on teamwork, communication and resilience, with friends in a relaxed but supportive environment.

At Kinver High School, we recognize the important role that sports play in the physical, social and emotional development of our students. Therefore, to ensure that participation is meaningful and inclusive, we have developed an extracurricular sporting pathway which provides students with the opportunity to develop their athletic skills, teamwork, and leadership abilities beyond the classroom. It offers a structured and supportive environment where students can explore a variety of sports, compete at different levels, and enhance their physical fitness. Through regular practice, coaching, and competitions, students not only improve their sporting abilities but also build resilience, discipline, and a strong sense of community. This pathway encourages personal growth, fosters a healthy lifestyle, and helps students achieve their full potential both on and off the field.

By developing a sporting pathway at Kinver, more students have the opportunity to get involved, be part of something bigger and seize every opportunity. As a result, our extra-curricular provision is centred around ensuring every day in every way, our students come first. Therefore, multiple teams will be created within a ‘squad’ for each team within the PE department and all students will attend an extra-curricular club on a Wednesday night 4pm-5pm for Squad training.

Sporting Fixtures:

At Kinver High School a plethora of competitive sporting fixtures, against other secondary schools, are on offer after school for all age groups. This level of sport really stretches and challenges the students at Kinver and gives them the opportunity to test themselves against the best athletes in the local area. We have regular matches and tournaments in the following sports: Football, Cricket, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Tennis, Athletics, Rounders to name but a few! These fixtures are subject to team selection through our performance pathway and for more details regarding our new pathway approach to extra-curricular please see the policy attached.

House Competitions:

Throughout the year all students will have the opportunity to take part in inter house competitions in a variety of traditional and non-traditional sports. This is a more competitive environment but supports a variety of sports performers in their transition to excelling in various sporting environments. Inter house matches are a great chance for our students to represent their houses with pride whilst promoting fair play and sportsmanship. The summer term at Kinver High School ends with the well-known and well-regarded Sports day. All students in the school get the chance to represent their house in a variety of different activities during the morning session. In the afternoon the best athletes from each house go head-to-head on the athletics track so that they can get the final few house points on offer in an attempt to claim the coveted ‘Kinver Cup’.

Lee are the current champions; we are very much looking forward to hosting this great day again to see if they can be dethroned.

Invictus Sport â€‹

Kinver High School are proud members of the Invictus Education Trust. We are very lucky to be able to give our students the opportunity to take part in ‘Elite’ sporting experiences alongside students from other schools from across Invictus.

These activities provide our students with the chance to take part in many sports that are seen to be inaccessible which makes the experience even more special. So far, our students have been able to take part in Mountain Biking, Track Cycling, Archery and many more. Our students also get the chance to take part in 3 ‘Invictus Games’ events each year. During these events our students compete against students from the other Invictus Schools. They are very competitive days, but they are also great fun with all fixtures and activities being played in a really good spirit against other schools within the Trust.
