Kinver Sixth is a well-established Sixth Form with a long history of academic success, consistently being ranked within the top 5% of Sixth Form centers in the UK. In recent years we have been one of the main sixth form teaching centres as part of Invictus Sixth, but are delighted that from September 2025, we will revert to being a single site sixth form centre, where all students are welcomed, to continue their academic and personal preparation for their post-18 choices.
Inclusive, Aspirational, High-Quality Teaching and Learning
At Kinver, we take great pride in the achievements of our students. Our ethos is one of high expectations and aspiration, within a caring and supportive environment. We offer both traditional ‘facilitating’ subjects at A-Level as well as Level 3 Applied subjects. High-quality provision is the norm, and the centre regularly achieves the highest (ALPS 1) judgement for sixth form teaching and learning because our teachers have the expertise, experience and knowledge to deliver. But, most importantly, because at K6, teachers focus on the individual.
Relationships, Challenge and Support
Students choose to continue their studies with us because of the relationships they have developed with their teachers, who know them well. But, because we are a smaller than average sixth form centre, with much smaller class sizes, this means that all students who study at K6 receive an individualised teaching experience that enables them to flourish and reach their potential.
Alongside knowing our students well, all students are challenged and supported as part of the school’s regular and robust academic monitoring processes. Students, who are not on track are offered additional support, guidance and coaching to support them towards achieving their best. As part of our commitment to this, at K6, all students are supplied with their learning resources, (a laptop and textbooks) for the duration of their studies. In addition, as part of our Careers Information and Guidance Programme, students receive regular support and advice with their UCAS application, apprenticeship procurement or alternative post-18 pathway.
What we offer
Kinver offers a wide range of subjects at both A-Level and Level 3 BTEC, all taught by experienced staff with a proven track record of success.
For the past two years, all subjects delivered at Kinver have been graded as having outstanding teaching and learning, as well as outstanding progress (via ALPS – the A-Level Performance System), which rank us in the top 5% in the country
Since forming Invictus Sixth Form, our students are now not only able to study subjects offered by Kinver staff, but also by the very best A-Level and BTEC teachers throughout our Multi-Academy Trust.
Students can choose to study any combination of the subjects on offer, and are able to do either;
· All A-Level courses
· All Level 3 BTEC courses
· A combination of both A-Level and BTEC courses.
The vast majority of students choose to take three different courses (alongside as sports academy if considering this option). However, students are able to take four A-levels if they are able to demonstrate that they can cope with the educational demands that this places on them.
Alongside this, all students undertake a comprehensive PSHE programme, which provides them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. The personalised support they receive throughout also helps with their UCAS, apprenticeship or job applications. This gives them tailored guidance on how to achieve their future aspirations upon completion of their studies, and ensures they are able to achieve their goals.
Stand out from the Crowd
At K6 we believe that both the holistic and academic development of students is of equal importance. We believe that it’s these additional qualities, characteristics and skills that make our students stand out from the crowd and give them the ‘edge’ with their UCAS or employment applications. We are proud of the enrichment package offered that includes our Sporting Academy, access to our existing Period 7 enrichment programme, Teaching and Coaching Preparation Pathway, the Duke of Edinburgh Award and new for September 2025, a Driving Skills Pathway in partnership with Safe4Life Driving School. In addition, all Sixth Form students are expected to undertake a work experience placement and either a volunteering experience or charity fundraising initiative. We believe that it is important that we develop altruistic characteristics in tomorrow’s future leaders.
