Why choose this course?
Engineering provides you with the direct skills to hone and showcase your talents in regard to both the manufacture of products, and understanding of the way in which new innovative creations are produced.
You will consider Engineering Principles, Product Design and Manufacture, and the way in which safety protocols are shaping the world of Engineering. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for manufacturing products of your own, for which you will document and comment on the production process, and critique your final product. By doing so, you will prepare yourself for a deep and critical understanding of product design, and ensure that you can apply this to a vast array of topics within the field of Engineering.
Course Content/Main Topics
You will cover mandatory modules in; Engineering Principles, Product Design, Delivering Safety Processes, Understanding Quality Principles in Engineering, as well as producing your own product. In addition to this, a number of optional units will be taken to create a rounded course overall.
Careers and Higher Education
Engineering is a multi-faceted qualification that can open countless pathways at post-18 level. As a Level 3 National Extended Diploma Vocational Qualification, you will be gaining the equivalent of three A-Levels (single option Engineering is also available), which can help you progress into a number of pathways.
Engineering can help lead into careers in architecture, the civil service, manufacturing and the world of logistics and supply chain management. Therefore, it is highly suitable for those wishing to continue with a degree in engineering, business or architecture at the end of your post-18 studies.
